Lookbook No°3

Lookbook is a new sub-series of my blog where I present some looks and share detailed insights as inspiration.

Finally, there's another lookbook this year! I intentionally took a break over the summer, which I really needed this year. Winter is also completely my element, so I wanted to kick things off this year with this surprisingly playful look.

I'm calling it "Merlot" because of the rich color palette, and "Midnight" because of the cold-weather feel. I absolutely love these shades, and this year I found so many beautiful pieces to match, especially from Guess.

Components of the look:

Many people might describe this look as outdated. If you would like to know more about this aesthetic, I wrote a post about velvet.

Why velvet? Because this look actually has something historical. What I particularly love is the way the lighting interacts with the different colors and fabrics I deliberately chose this time. 

However, while putting everything together, I realized that the combination of materials was quite daring. From cotton and silk to faux leather, there is truly a wide variety of textures. I only used simple light sources, which makes the way the different materials react to the light even more noticeable. 

I also created two versions of the look. One is intended for the slightly cooler days of September, while the second version is designed for late autumn and winter. I happened to already own two matching pairs of shoes from Gabor in exactly the same color, which made the second version come together perfectly.

Whether it is for school, a visit to a museum, or a trip to an old historic town, there are countless occasions where this outfit can be worn. 

As you can see, the materials are very high-quality and have a beautiful glossy finish. The pieces are also very well made, with particularly neat and precise stitching. 

The photographs also show just how well the faux leather and silk work together visually. 

The handbag also complements the look exceptionally well. In fact, it is exactly the same color as the coat. At the same time, the outfit creates two distinct color blocks. Rather than competing, these two blocks complement each other beautifully.

And I think that is one of the most remarkable things about fashion: sometimes you have to be willing to experiment with colors that may not match perfectly at first glance. Those unexpected choices can be exactly what makes it truly unique.

I was so impressed with this outfit that I wanted to share a few more photographs with you, in which I even connect my passion for travelling with this particular look.

I also have a new suitcase from Picard that was looooong overdue and happens to complement the outfit incredibly well. I will definitely be taking it with me on my future travels.

As you can see, this outfit can also be associated with the idea of travelling and exploring new places.

My reflection:

This look can be described as Neo-Vintage: a contemporary interpretation of historical elegance without becoming a literal reproduction of a specific period. 

What makes it particularly unique is its balance between historical influence and contemporary styling. The luxurious textures, deep berry tones and polished accessories give it an almost cinematic quality without appearing costume-like — which is precisely what gives this Neo-Vintage aesthetic its character.
