Spring cleaning: closet edition 👗

The moody spring is back. Along with the stormy weather and a bit of snow, I'm sharing a few practical wardrobe tips with you today.
This is my favorite post of the year because it's about my favorite topic again: fashion
Every woman's heart beats faster when it comes to stylish shoes and beautiful accessories (at least mine does). What makes this post particularly interesting is that it's about my personal experiences with spring cleaning. Whether you're a man or a woman, in this post you'll get practical tips for the seasonal transition and the best way to reorganize your wardrobe.
In my short slideshow, you can already see the highlight steps I always follow. These are, as could not be otherwise, already sorted chronologically.
Emptying
First of all, you need to empty the wardrobe. All items must come out so that dust, leftover particles or pollen no longer spread on the wooden surfaces. Before putting the items back, whether shoes, hats or shirts, they first need to be cleaned, ironed or washed. Only then is it truly clean, otherwise if you put the things back as they are, the surface is just as dirty as before. This is often the hardest part because it takes a lot of work, but it is worth it for good hygiene.
Cleaning
Once everything is removed, we start with the furniture itself. I usually take the items to the balcony or another room and air out the room. While airing, I get wood cleaner and glass cleaner. Depending on the surface, I use warm water and then wipe everything thoroughly. It is important to let the room air out completely for one to two hours. For this I also use a fan and a Dyson air purifier to keep the air clean after cleaning.
Desiccants
This is an essential part of the cleaning process that should not be skipped. The amount really matters here. I have many of them because they protect the wardrobe sufficiently from moisture. You can also buy moth protection and additional scented sachets so that the wardrobe keeps a fresh smell. These sachets should never be missing.
Airing clothes
Another crucial part is airing the clothes and accessories. I recommend airing the entire wardrobe two to three times a year. I always do this at the end of the season, because it has become indispensable for me. After several months, especially in summer after pollen season, particles and dust settle. That is why wardrobe organization is especially important for allergy sufferers. The best times are actually March, September and October. At this time there is not much pollen and on days without rain, airing works well. I follow these times and air more sparingly in summer because the weather conditions are not ideal. Of course, you can air in summer as well, but I would not recommend it during pollen season, especially if the wardrobe and bedroom are in the same room.
Wrapping paper
Some might shake their head at this point, but I will explain why it is so important. You need to know that leather is not the same as leather, just like cotton. Each material reacts differently and some fabrics are very sensitive. I have often experienced that, for example, red leather or purple from faux leather jackets and bags can discolor quickly, even with black stuff! For this reason, I usually sort my wardrobe by color patterns and try to store delicate fabrics separately. I advise to not mixing cotton, no matter the quality, with dark fabrics because discoloration cannot be ruled out. That is why I use wrapping paper. Shoes in particular are a big topic here because paper keeps them dry and protects them from scratches and discoloration.
Order
As I just said, you should sort by color. Another arrangement I follow is by occasion and season. This year, for example, the winter items go to the top while the summer clothes are placed below. Accessories are also sorted by color so I can grab them quickly. I recommend clear organization systems. Wardrobes need a system. Whether at furniture stores or at IKEA, you can find suitable complements everywhere. I prefer custom-made solutions from special materials because they are often made from higher quality fabrics or velvet and protect belts and glasses much better, so = making them last longer.
Conclusion
From past spring cleanings I have learned some important lessons, including how important hygiene is. For example, I love the Love it Store it boxes because they are extremely compatible and moisture resistant. I have been using them for almost a year and am very satisfied. You are probably wondering what happened to my old wardrobe that I showed you on YouTube? I had an IKEA Pax wardrobe back then but consciously chose a new alternative. As much as I love my wardrobe, I plan to expand my space, so this certainly will not be my last wardrobe. I find space is an absolute luxury and I want to make the most of it in the coming years and I look forward to my next experiences.
I hope some useful tips were included. How about you?
